Microchip
Identification
Though
we do everything possible to keep our pets safe, there is always a
possibility that your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel could be lost. Dog
tags are the first line of defense, but what is your pet loses his
collar or the tags fall off? Your fail safe solution is microchip
identification.
Your
veterinarian can implant a tiny microchip between your Cavalier King
Charles Spaniel's shoulder blades in a simple, relatively painless
procedure. The microchip is about the size of a grain of
rice and
has a unique identification number encoded in it. Having a
microchip implanted under the skin does not harm your dog or
cause him discomfort.
Your vet will give you an application where you can
specify your emergeny contact information which is then sent to the
animal recovery registry. If the humane society ever finds your
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, it is a simple matter to scan your pet
for a
microchip which will quickly identify your pet and provide the humane
society with your contact information. Most animal shelters and
veterinary offices now have this scanning technology.
Be
sure to keep the animal recovery registry information with your pet's
records. Should any of your information change, you will wan t to
update your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's file with the registry.
