Vaccinations
“An
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” To prevent disease
and dog health problems, your vet will recommend a program of
vaccinations for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Vaccinations can
vary depending on the
part of the country you reside in and may be optional
depending on your dog’s lifestyle.
Your
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will probably receive his or her first
inoculations as a Cavalier Spaniel puppy
while still under the breeder’s care. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
breeders will generally provide you
with a dog health record
so that your veterinarian can continue with
appropriate treatment once you bring your Cavalier Spaniel puppy home.
Discuss with
your veterinarian which vaccinations he
or she recommends for your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and inquire
about the possible negative effects of over-vaccination. It has
been indicated that too many vaccines can affect a dog's autoimmune
system and some holistic veterinarians are choosing to give
vaccinations less frequently than recommended in the American Animal
Hospital Association's Canine Vaccine Guidelines.
The
following is a typical vaccination schedule, but, please follow your
personal vet’s advice at all times:
